PURPOSE: Apparatus and method for protecting and purifying the circumference of coke oven are provided to reduce working load by blocking red heat cokes scattered to a service platform and effectively extinguishing. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and method for protecting and purifying the circumference of a coke oven comprises a coke shield(100), a first jetting unit(200), and a second jetting unit(300). The coke shield is positioned on an external service platform of the circumference of a coke oven and is installed in an extrusion vehicle(10). The first jetting unit jets fire-extinguishing liquid(L) to gas and dust. The second jetting unit jets fire-extinguishing liquid(L) to red heat cokes.
