PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device for recording program data on a plurality of recording media. SOLUTION: When there is no more free capacity in an optical disk on which an optical disk drive 11 records program data, the tail end part of the recorded program data is stored in a storage unit 12, and an exchanging unit 15 exchanges the optical disk with another optical disk. The optical disk drive 11 records the tail end part read from the storage unit 12 in the exchanged optical disk, and records the program data. When the optical disk drive 11 reproduces the program data recorded on a plurality of optical disks, another disk including a part overlapped with the tail end part of the program data recorded in the optical disk where the data is being reproduced is specified from among the plurality of optical disk housed in the exchanging unit 15. When the optical disk drive 11 finishes the reproduction, the exchanging unit 15 exchanges the optical disk with the specified optical disk, and successively reproduces the data.
