A method and system for implementing cooperation of relay nodes are provided, the said method includes the following steps: a base station selects cooperative modes according to a preset cooperative condition (100), when the cooperative condition indicates that the communication between the base station and the relay node is the point-to-point (103) communication, the base station and the relay node cooperate by using special information modes (101); when the cooperative condition indicates that the communication between the base station and the relay nodes is the point-to-multipoint (104) communication, the base station and the relay node cooperate by using common information modes (102). Application of the present invention can ensure the backward compatibility (the user compatible with the old edition), and, ensure the backward compatibility of the user simply and accurately, reduce the overhead of the link from the base station to the relay station, enhance the throughput of the entire system.
