The machine (1) has a perforation unit (12) for perforating a lower foil (3), where perforation is provided in the area of the lower foil to form a packaging body (5) after closing. The perforation unit is provided at a base side and/or at a side wall of the packaging body. The perforation unit is arranged in a form station (4) and a heating station (13). A perforation thorn is arranged at a form punch and/or at a complementary forming tool. A perforation tool includes a thorn retainer complementary to the perforation thorn. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing packings.
