PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which can switch a photographing mode while maintaining approximately equal image quality even if a camera parameter such as a shutter speed is different. SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus including: imaging optical systems 1, 2; an imaging means 3 for converting a subject image formed by the imaging optical systems 1, 2 into an electrical video signal; a subject luminance calculating means 5 for calculating a subject luminance; and a photographing mode switching means 7 for comparing the subject luminance with a threshold and switching the photographing mode, the photographing mode switching means switches output modes for a color video image and a black-and-white video image. The imaging apparatus further includes a threshold change means 8 for changing the threshold in accordance with a camera parameter. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
