PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-manufacture safety device of a passenger conveyor capable of absorbing shocks when a passenger contacts a protective body, and being easily mounted and detached. SOLUTION: This safety device of an escalator includes a protective body 1, which is arranged at a narrow angle part 5 formed by crossing an escalator inclined between upper and lower floors 4 with a story floor 4 above the escalator, and prevents a passenger from being nipped by the narrow angle part 5. The protective body 1 includes a plate-like body 1A, on which a face 1c opposed to the escalator is formed flat and which has thickness gradually larger along a traveling direction of the escalator. The plate-like body 1A has a pair of suspension bodies 6a, 6b suspended from the upper story floor 4. Among the suspension bodies 6a, 6b, one end 1b near the narrow angle part 5 is arranged at a position nearer the escalator than the other end. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
