<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device using electromagnetic waves for detecting the accumulation amount of particulate matters on a filter while improving its detecting sensitivity, detecting reliability and temperature stability. <P>SOLUTION: The detecting device for the particulate matters includes the filter for trapping the particulate matters form gas A containing the particulate matters, an upstream side detecting part 6 mounted in an upstream side pipe 3, and a downstream side detecting part 7 mounted in a downstream side pipe. The upstream side detecting part 6 includes a transmitting part for transmitting electromagnetic waves to an upstream side trapping part and a receiving part for receiving the electromagnetic waves radiated from the upstream side trapping part. The downstream side detecting part 7 includes a downstream side trapping part provided in a branch flow path, a transmitting part for transmitting the electromagnetic waves to a downstream side trapping part and a receiving part for receiving the electromagnetic waves radiated from the downstream side trapping part. The device detects the amount of the particulate matters trapped by the filter in accordance with the difference between a detection value for the amount of the particulate matters trapped by the upstream side trapping part and a detection value for the amount of the particulate matters trapped by the downstream side trapping part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
