PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase effectiveness of the prevention of the leakage of information as a key is operated in a key input device. SOLUTION: In the EPP 100 of a password input device, a key 110 is energized and held by springs 132 and 134 with respect to a frame 120, and electric power is supplied to an inter-contact pattern 116 on the key lower face with which both springs are brought into contact, with both springs made voltage application paths. Under a key non-operation situations that any key operation is not performed and under key normal operation situations that key depression is performed, the power supply situations of the inter-contact pattern 116 is normally maintained. When any illegal key access which is not normally assumed, such as the removal of the key 110, is performed, the spring is separated from a first contact 112 or the like, and the power supply situations of the inter-contact pattern 116 are changed, so that it is possible to detect any illegal key access.
