PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a coated composite material for which a core material is coated with a coating material by a simple process without requiring a complicated process or a sophisticated technique and for which the two materials are strongly joined to have high functionality, and also to provide the coated composite material. SOLUTION: Between a core material 2 composed of a prescribed metallic material and an extruding die 12, there is arranged a coating material 3 composed of a metallic material different from that of the core material 2. By a hot extrusion method, the core material 2 and the coating material 3 are simultaneously extruded, thereby manufacturing the coated composite material 1 in which the core material 2 is coated with the coating material 3.
