A car-side engaging device has: a fixed blade fixed to car doors; a rotation link which is rotatable about a link support shaft provided to the car doors; and a movable blade provided to the rotation link. The movable blade is displaced between a gripping position at which a distance to the fixed blade with respect to the moving direction of the car doors becomes a predetermined distance and a release position which is further away from the fixed blade than the gripping position, in accordance with the rotation of the rotation link. A driving device for gripping has: a rotation lever rotatable about a lever support shaft provided to the car doors; a means for interconnecting the rotation lever and the rotation link; and a cam which is fixed to a car doorway and causes the rotation lever, which is moved with the car door, to rotate. The rotation link and the rotation lever are interconnected so that the direction of the rotation of the rotation link about the link support shaft is equal to that of the rotation lever about the lever support shaft.
