PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel pump capable of reducing strike noise generated between a roller lifter and a lifter housing while maintaining an appropriate clearance between the roller lifter and the lifter housing. SOLUTION: The high pressure fuel pump includes a roller 73 sliding on a drive cam 32, a shaft 72, a roller lifter 53, a lifter housing 54, a spring 55, and a plunger 52. The roller lifter is supported by the lifter housing 54 so as to make an axial line La of the lifter housing 54 pass through the axial center Pc of the drive cam 32. The shaft 72 is supported by the roller lifter 53 so as to dispose an axial line Lb of the shaft 72 at a position separating from an axial line of the roller lifter 53 in a direction crossing the axial line of the roller lifter 53 at right angles by a distance d from the axial line of the roller lifer 53. A side wall surface 71a of the roller lifter 53 presses an inner wall surface 54g of the lifter housing 54 in a fixed direction while the roller lifter 53 reciprocates. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
