<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing apparatus providing an accurate AF evaluated value whichever subject pattern it is, a horizontal subject pattern or a vertical subject pattern, at high speed without increasing circuit scale or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The image capturing apparatus includes: an imaging device 11 having a plurality of pixels arranged in a two-dimensional state; a TG 12 and a system control microcomputer 18 collecting the plurality of pixels arranged in the two-dimensional state for each one or more pixels to obtain a readout pixel, considering that a plurality of readout pixels are arranged in the two-dimensional state in the imaging device 11, and controlling the imaging device 11 to read out image data for each readout pixel time-sequentially so as to spatially continue over the readout pixels of predetermined number or more in a plurality of directions including two independent directions of readout pixel arrangement in the two-dimensional state; and a filter processing unit 25 performing one-dimensional filter processing to the image data read out for each readout pixel time-sequentially from the imaging device 11 to detect the AF evaluated value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
