PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately and stably conduct thread cutting motion by making an initial position of a cam subordination body adjustable when it is fitted to a cam groove. SOLUTION: A sewing machine is provided with a thread cutting device 30 equipped with a moving knife 31, a thread cutting drive mechanism 50 which applies the cutting motion to the moving knife, and a cloth feed mechanism 20 equipped with a vertical feed shaft 22 and a horizontal feed shaft 23, and is also provided with a supporting shaft 54 which is supported in a movable manner along the vertical feed shaft direction. A thread cutting cam 51 is installed on the vertical feed shaft 22 and on which the cam groove is formed on an end surface which is perpendicular to the vertical feed shaft 22 with a direction along the vertical feed shaft direction as a depth direction. A knife driving arm moves forward and backward along the vertical feed shaft direction to make the cam subordination body 52 switchable between a fitting position and an evacuating position.
