A method of adding further fields to a client request and status packet of a mobile display digital interface (MDDI) communication system, the method comprising the steps of providing a capability change field within the client request and status packet for indicating whether a client device has changed since a last transmission of the client request and status packet; and providing a CRC error count field within the client request and status packet for indicating whether an error is detected in processing a received packet by the client since a last transmission of the client request and status packet as well as a corresponding system.
