In order to produce novel security features in a polymer layer composite for a security and/or valuable document containing at least two polymer layers connected in a material fit, patterns are formed on at least one surface of at least one of the polymer layers by respectively applying a visible printing layer in a printing region. The patterns of the visible printing layers are modified by the modification of the surface energy of the polymer layers in the printing regions before the application of the visible printing layers in the partial regions of the surfaces.
