PURPOSE: A control method of a mobile terminal and an apparatus thereof are provided to perform the functions of the mobile terminal based on the moving tracks of nearing touches. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(405) indicates the taking notes recognition icon on a touch screen. When the taking notes recognition icon is selected, a controller(407) ignores the input signal for controlling the function of the specific mode in operation. The controller recognizes the writing input received through the touch screen. The controller controls the menu which is the acknowledged writing input as described above the tagging. The display unit comprises a contact sensor sensing the contact touch or a near sensor sensing the nearing touch.
