A projectile (668) for firing from a small arms weapon is disclosed. The projectile has a cylindrical body (632) with a closed first (leading) end (614) and an open second (trailing) end (616), which is axially opposed to the first end. The projectile (668) includes a case (670) comprising a tube with an end closed by a base (624). A cavity (618) is formed between the ends (614 and 616) and holds propellant material (622). The closed first end of the cylindrical body protrudes from the case (614). The case fits over the cylindrical body so that the base covers the second end (616) of the body. This closes the cavity (618) and retains the propellant (622) inside. Two seals (630) extend around the outer circumferential surface of the body. The seals (630) protrude radially from the body to seal (630) against the inner surface of the barrel when the projectile is fired. The seals (630) have an outer diameter greater than the outer diameter of the body (632) and equal to or greater than the inner diameter of the barrel.
