摘要 <p>A tap with an overflow protection assembly 14 for a liquid gas cylinder 12 comprises a tap body 10 with a longitudinal axis and a base portion 16-1 used for securing the tap body 10 to the cylinder 12 opening, an overflow protection device 14 with a valve for controlling the flow of fluid into and out of the cylinder, and a level gauge 22 that indicates the level of liquid in the cylinder 12. The overflow protection device comprises the valve, an elongate support leg 24 secured to the tap body 10 such that it extends along the longitudinal axis of the tap body 10, a float lever 44 fixed to a float 42 with the float lever 44 connected to the support leg 24 at the free end 28 at a point distant from the tap body 10 and able to pivot along the longitudinal axis of the support leg 24 in response to movements of the float 42 due to liquid level variations in the cylinder 12, and a rod 18 extending along the support leg 24 to the valve. When the float lever 44 pivots to a position that indicates the liquid in the cylinder has reached the maximum level, the rod 18 will close the valve and stop filling of the cylinder 12. The level gauge 22 comprises an elongate gauge rod 20 placed outside of but extending alongside the support leg 24 from the free end 28 of the support leg 24 to the tap body 10 where it is received within and allowed reciprocating linear movement within a bore parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tap body 10, a crank 56 coupling the float lever 44 and rod 20 that longitudinally moves the rod in response to pivot motion of the float lever due to variations of liquid level in the cylinder 12, and a permanent magnet fixed to the other end of the gauge rod 20. The magnet moves linearly within the tap body 10 and magnetically actuates the indicator 16-3 of a liquid level display 22 mounted on the tap body. This design does not require electrical power for its operation.</p>
