PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dryer capable of drying and crushing a food residue and vegetable waste etc. at high speed, efficiently performing drying at high speed, decreasing an installation space, being easily manufactured, lowering manufacturing cost and having excellent maintainability. SOLUTION: The dryer includes: a hopper 2 for storing a treated object 5; a sending device 4 for transferring the treated object taken in from the hopper; an air blower 18 producing hot air from air heated by a heater 6 and conveying the hot air; an introduction cylindrical part 10 for mixing the treated object sent by the sending device into the hot air; a drying cylindrical part 12 which forms a spiral drying passage 13 formed inside by arranging a cylindrical body from an upper start end communicating with the introduction cylindrical part toward a lower terminal part to twist and wind the cylindrical body a plurality of times and carries the mixed treated object 5 from the start end to the terminal end of the drying passage together with the hot air; and a powder and granular separation device 16 provided at the terminal end of the drying cylindrical part and separating the treated object emitted from the terminal end and dried, and air including steam.
