BURST MODE OPTICAL TRANSMITTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burst mode optical transmitter maintaining a duty factor of a burst optical signal even when transmitting a high-speed burst optical signal.

SOLUTION: The burst mode optical transmitter includes: a modulation circuit 12 for modulating an input signal and generating a modulation signal; a bias current circuit 13 for supplying bias current to a signal light transmission means 11 which transmits a burst optical signal based on the modulation signal; and a control circuit 21 for controlling duty factor of the modulation signal with respect to the modulation circuit 12 so that a duty factor of the burst optical signal during a prescribed compensation time from a time at which the bias current circuit 13 starts supply of bias current to the signal light transmission means 11 and a duty factor in a normal state become equal.
