PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately dispose a component constituting an optical system based on a predetermined position within a case. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing process for manufacturing an optical information reading device, a light projection-side manufacturing step includes: a mounting step of mounting a light emitting element on a substrate, a light emission-side measurement step of measuring a light emitting reference position of the light emitting element, and a light emission-side selection step of selecting a light emission-side positioning member for positioning the light emitting element within an outer case. Further, a substrate unit assembling step of assembling a substrate unit within the outer case is performed by determining the position of the light emitting element relative to a predetermined light emission-side reference part within the outer case by use of the light emission-side positioning member selected in the light emission-side selection step.
