A self-bonded corrugated web made from a primary pre-bonded web layer of substantially uniform thickness, which contains thermoplastic fibers,and which is arranged to form corrugations forming a corrugation pattern of parallel corrugation lines, which can be parallel to the longitudinal extension of the web, whereby the corrugated web is heat- or melt-fusion bonded in regions forming a primary bonding pattern of a plurality of primary bonding pattern lines, which are arranged non-parallel to the corrugation lines and which intersect at least two of the corrugation lines, thusly stabilizing the corrugations. Preferably, each of the corrugation lines of is connected to at least one neighboring corrugation line by at least one primary bonding pattern line.The primary bonding pattern can comprise first and second primary bonding pattern lines, which can define circumscribed regions, which are unbonded by the primary bonding pattern. The primary bonding pattern lines can be continuous lines, preferably straight lines, and it can consist of a secondary bonding pattern consisting of a plurality of bonding points. The corrugated web according preferably exhibits a low pressure loft of at least 18 Ä mu m/(g/m<2>)Ü.
