PURPOSE: A digital camera and a control method thereof are provided to enable a normal person to photograph a smooth video by an automatic zoom operation. CONSTITUTION: A subject motion calculating unit(151) calculates moving speed of a subject. A target size setup unit(153) variably sets a target size of a subject image according to moving speed of a subject. A subject size adjusting unit(155) enlarges or reduces a size of a subject image to make a size that a person wants. The subject motion calculating unit calculates region motion vectors about image blocks configuring a subject image.
