PURPOSE: A cooling appliance and a method for controlling the same are provided to recognize the optimal washing point of a cavity by obtaining a signal from an alarming unit. CONSTITUTION: An input unit(31) inputs the operating condition of heating source in order to wash a cavity. The heating source is operated according to the inputted condition. A controlling unit controls the operation of the heating source. An alarming unit(35) alarms an optimal washing point. The input unit includes a mode selection button(32) and a start button(33).
