PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device achieving a wide viewing angle and a short half-tone response time by regulating the orientation of liquid crystal using a pre-tilt angle providing technology using polymer for sealing a liquid crystal layer containing polymerizable components between substrates and stabilizing the liquid crystal orientation by polymerizing the polymerizable components while applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal layer 24 containing the polymer for regulating the pre-tilt angle of liquid crystal molecules and the inclination at driving is sealed between two substrates 20, 30, which are oppositely arranged. A plurality of stripe type electrode patterns 8 formed to have a wider pattern width than the width of a space 10 is arranged so that the liquid crystal molecules are oriented in the pattern longitudinal direction when the polymerizable components mixed in the liquid crystal layer 24 while applying the voltage to the liquid crystal display layer 24 are solidified to form the polymer.
