PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means that efficiently separates water from an aqueous solution of ethanol and saccharides. SOLUTION: A water separation membrane includes polypyrrole where an aliphatic sulfonic acid ion is doped, wherein the aliphatic sulfonic acid ion is preferably a vinyl sulfonic acid ion and the aliphatic sulfonic acid ion is more preferably a polyvinyl sulfonic acid ion.
