A plug connector comprises a hard insulating core 6 carrying an insulating sheet 7, e.g. glasscloth, on either side and laminated with copper foil from which contacts 8 are etched or otherwise provided, the connector co-operating with a socket member 10 comprising yieldable layers 11, 15, contact elements 13 being provided on insulating sheets 12, e.g. of glass-cloth. The socket members are assembled in a stack in a housing 20 and after plug connectors have been inserted, are compressed by a cam 25 acting on a wedge 26 which separates wedges 27, 28. Mounting flanges 32 are provided on the housing. The socket members 10a may alternatively all be moulded in one piece (Fig. 10). Connectors, as shown in Figs. 1-3, 5 and 10 of Specification 782,347, are also described (Figs. 11-15, not shown). Specification 782,349 also is referred to.
