PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the brake mechanism of a closer device for a sliding door from being caught. SOLUTION: The door body 1 of a sliding door includes a housing 20, a freely movable slider 22, and an arrestor 21 freely rotatable relative to the slider 22. An elastic member 23 is interposed between the slider 22 and the housing 20. With the door body 1 opened, the arrestor 21 is turned outward and locked to a locking part 24a provided to the housing 20. When the door body 1 is moved in the closing direction of the sliding door, the arrestor 21 is turned inward and engaged with a trigger 11 provided to a guide rail 10, the locking of the arrestor 21 is released, and the door body 1 is automatically closed by the pressing force of the elastic member 23. Since the arrestor 21 presses a brake cam 34 freely swingably provided to the slider 22, the brake cam 34 is swung to apply braking. An auxiliary elastic member 33 for applying a biasing force in the direction reverse to that of the pressing above is installed between the arrestor 21 and the slider 22.
