PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably prevent, for a long time, toner from being transferred to the surface of a fixing member, which contacts a toner image, and also a recording medium from being wrapped around the fixing member without it being separated from the fixing member, when the toner image is thermally fixed to the recording medium between the rotatable fixing member and a pressure member, which thermally fix the toner image. SOLUTION: The fixing device is provided with: the rotatable fixing member 21 for thermally fixing a toner image in contact with the toner image t formed on a recording medium S; and a pressure member 24 for applying pressure to the recording medium on the fixing member. In the fixing device, a lubricant application means 40 for applying a lubricant to the surface of the fixing member, which contacts a toner image, is provided with: a solid lubricant 42; a lubricant supply member 41 for scraping a lubricant from the solid lubricant and supplying it to the surface of the fixing member; and a pressing member 44 for pressing the lubricant supplied to the surface of the fixing member and applying it to the surface of the fixing member.
