Disconnecting element for a motor vehicle electrical system

The release element (1) has a voltage input and a load output (A-L) for connecting a load (4). A thermal protective switch is switched between the voltage input and the load output within a current path (2). The protective switch galvanically separates the current path due to a control signal (S). A semiconductor switch is arranged downstream the protective switch and connected parallel to the load connection. The control signal is guided to the control input of the semiconductor switch.
