PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine which returns a refrigerant from a rotor core into a rotor shaft, can reduce loss taken out by the refrigerant as much as possible, does not have a different driving source, can stably secure a desired refrigerant flow rate and can obtain a sufficient cooling effect. SOLUTION: The refrigerant flows into an intra-core refrigerant channel 45 from an intra-shaft refrigerant channel 41 formed in a rotor shaft 22 through a refrigerant entry channel 44a. A refrigerant return channel 44b returning the refrigerant into the rotor shaft 22 from the intra-core refrigerant channel 45 is arranged. A return-side refrigerant reservoir whose inner diameter side becomes a return-side free surface Sout is formed inside the rotor shaft being an exit of the refrigerant return channel 44b in a rotation full state where the refrigerant is filled in the intra-core refrigerant channel 45, the refrigerant entry channel 44a and the refrigerant return channel 44b. The refrigerant in the intra-core refrigerant channel 45 can return to the return-side refrigerant reservoir by a centrifugal force that the refrigerant with which the refrigerant entry channel 44a and the intra-core refrigerant channel 45 are filled receives.
