PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a signal level of a television broadcast signal retransmitted from a transmit antenna to a proper level, even if the signal level of the television broadcast signal or the number of channels is changed, in a television broadcast retransmission apparatus which amplifies the television broadcast signal and retransmits it from the transmit antenna. SOLUTION: In a television broadcast retransmitting apparatus, a television broadcast signal is selected for each channel from among received signals from a receiving facility, a signal level is detected (S120, S130, S160, S170), a channel on which broadcasting is actually performed is identified from the detected signal level, and a signal level of the channel is stored in a memory (S140, S150). Then, the maximum signal level is extracted from among the signal levels (S180) and the gain of an amplifier is controlled via an AGC circuit 20, in such a way that the transmitted power from a transmit antenna 4 for the television broadcast signal of the maximum signal level becomes a maximum, within a range which does not exceed a specified value (S200).
