PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a biaxially oriented polyester film having an easily adhesive layer excellent in adhesiveness to hard coat layers and the like, coating appearance and coating uniformity. SOLUTION: The method for producing a biaxially oriented polyester film is characterized by coating at least one surface of the film with a coating liquid which satisfies the following expressions: (1) 0[mN/m]≤STb-STa≤5[mN/m], (2) 35[mN/m]≤STa≤53[mN/m], and (3) 35[mN/m]≤STb≤53[mN/m], wherein: STa[mN/m] is a dynamic surface tension at a bubble-generating frequency of 1 Hz; and STb[mN/m] is a dynamic surface tension at a bubble-generating frequency of 10 Hz. The coating liquid contains an alcohol-based solvent in the coating liquid, and has an alcohol-based solvent content/solid content weight ratio of 0.1 to 0.3 in the coating liquid.
