摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control technology for a diesel engine, supplying a reducing agent to an exhaust gas post-treatment device while suppressing the occurrence of misfire in a cylinder. SOLUTION: The diesel engine 10 includes: the exhaust gas post-treatment device 55 requiring supply of the reducing agent; a fuel injection valve 80 injecting fuel into the cylinder; and an exhaust fuel adding valve 88 adding fuel to exhaust gas in an exhaust passage 50c between the exhaust gas post-treatment device 55 and the cylinder. An ECU 100 selects and uses exhaust gas addition adding the reducing agent into the exhaust gas by adding fuel into the exhaust gas by the exhaust fuel adding valve 88 when the cetane number of fuel is lower than a first required cetane number set according to ignitability of gas filled into the cylinder. The ECU selects and uses rich combustion generating exhaust gas containing the reducing agent in the cylinder by injecting fuel from the fuel injection valve 80 into the cylinder in order to provide an air-fuel ratio lower than a theoretical air-fuel ratio when the cetane number exceeds a second required cetane number set according to the ignitability of the gas filled into the cylinder.
