PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens capable of correcting color aberration, spherical aberration, coma or the like in a well-balanced manner and achieving satisfactory optical characteristic in the entire zoom range. SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes a first lens group having positive refracting power, a second lens group having negative refracting power, and following lens groups including a lens group having positive refracting power arranged in this order from an object side to an image side and moves the lens groups to widen a spacing between the first lens group and the second lens group at a telephotographic end more than that at a wide angle end for zooming. The first lens group includes at least one negative lens, and the Abbe number and partial dispersion ratios νd1n, θgF1n of a material of at least one negative lens are set to proper values, respectively.
