The reinforcing bar (1) comprises a hollow profile which is limited by an outer jacket (2) that comprises a chamber (3). A structural element (4) is arranged inside the chamber which has an inner structure having multiple cavities. The structural element is formed from a metal, particularly aluminum or an aluminum alloy. The inner structure is designed as a honeycomb structure, so that the cavities are formed as multiple adjacent honeycombs. A plastic material is provided in the chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a reinforcing bar.
