摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent extension of a time period from powering on the device until convergence on a certain chromaticity irrespective of temperature when the device is powered on. SOLUTION: The backlight apparatus includes: a backlight 20 using a plurality of light emitting diodes as a light source; a temperature sensor 41 that senses temperature of the light emitting diodes; a chromaticity sensor 42 that senses a chromaticity of light from the light emitting diodes; a drive control unit 38 that supplies a current to the light emitting diodes for driving the light emitting diodes; a nonvolatile memory 38a that stores an initial current amount for the light emitting diodes and a correction amount corresponding to the temperature of the initial current amount. The drive control unit 38 calculates, upon powering on the device, the correction amount based on a value sensed by the temperature sensor 41, adds the calculated correction amount to the initial current amount of the light emitting diodes and activates the light emitting diodes with a corrected initial current amount.
