PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device in which convenience is improved by enabling an authentication password to be inputted even in a closed state, and to provide a control method of the portable electronic device and a program. SOLUTION: A portable electronic device comprises: a detection means for detecting a physical operation given to a portable electronic device body; and an authentication means for authenticating a password by collating a numerical value, which is obtained by analyzing the result of the detection by the detection means, with a numerical value as a password inputted beforehand.
