PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intravital observation system, easily controlling the start and stop of an intravital observation apparatus from the outside, improving observation or diagnosis efficiency, and holding down consumption of a battery to the minimum. SOLUTION: This intravital observation system is provided with: a capsule endoscope including an illumination section 2 and an image pickup section 3, a power supply section 5 provided with a battery 8 for supplying driving power to the illumination section 2 and the image pickup section 3 and a control section 17 for controlling the supply and cut-off of driving power supplied from the battery 8; and a control signal generation apparatus disposed outside the capsule endoscope. The control signal generation apparatus is provided with a control signal generation section and a control signal transmitting electrode for transmitting the control signal, and the capsule endoscope is provided with a control signal receiving electrode 18 for receiving a control signal transmitted from the control signal transmitting electrode and a control signal detection section 6 for detecting a control signal input through the control signal receiving electrode 18 and controlling the power supply and interrupt operation of the control section 17.
