PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an engine quickly restarting an engine that reduces discharge of harmful substances. SOLUTION: The control device (10) of the engine is used for restarting an internal combustion engine (12) having at least one cylinder (14). This device (10) determines whether or not a stop position of a piston (20) of one cylinder (14) is at a stop position at which compression injection combustion can be performed from detection information, calculates an injection timing of the compression injection when the stop position of the piston (20) of the cylinder (14) is at the stop position, and starts direction injection of fuel to the cylinder (14) based on the calculated injection timing.
