The transmission (100) has a countershaft (128) spaced apart from and parallel with two transmission input shafts (124, 126). Another countershaft (130) is parallel with the shafts. Four synchronizer assemblies (210-216) selectively couple a set of gears (144-194) of six gear sets (140-190) with the countershafts. A selective engagement of a dual clutch assembly (132) interconnects a dual clutch housing (134) with the shafts, where a selective engagement of the synchronizer assemblies establishes five forward speed ratios.
