PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal ring charging/discharging device capable of properly charging/discharging a metal ring without performing a tooling change even when the circumferential length of a ring material that is rolled and corrected on its circumferential length varies. SOLUTION: The metal ring charging/discharging device is provided with a clamping means having claw members for holding only the out sides of a metal ring. The clamping means holds the metal ring in the radial direction with the claw members so that the metal ring is deformed into a nearly elliptical shape consisting of a pair of circular arc parts, which are curved larger than the diameters of tension rollers and a pair of bowstring parts, which are opposed in parallel with each other with the circular arc parts interposed. Then, the metal ring is transferred to an area including both tension rollers. When the curve diameters of both circular arc parts of the metal ring are reduced with separation of both tension rollers in such a manner that the curve diameters of both circular arc parts approximate the diameters of the tension rollers, holding of the metal ring is released to deliver the metal ring to both tension rollers, so that charging of the metal ring is executed.
