PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium conveying device capable of correcting the skew of a printing medium conveyed in a conveyance passage and an image forming device having the medium conveying device. SOLUTION: The medium conveying device includes the conveyance passage for conveying the medium, a detecting means (a line sensor 203) for detecting the skew amount of the medium, a conveyance means (a drive roller 201 and an idle roller 202) positioned opposing the conveyance passage and movable in the direction vertical to the conveyance passage for conveying the medium, a control means for calculating the position of the conveyance means on the detected result of the detecting means, and a driving means (a cam gear 212) for moving the conveyance means through instructions from the control means.
