PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system management device for improving efficiency of a trouble handling operation. SOLUTION: The system management device is configured to: acquire CI corresponding to a symptom observation element and symptom content information representing the content of the symptom; acquire a query system 221 associated with the symptom content information matching the content of the symptom from a handling information storage part 22; and extract the CI to be specified by tracing, in a designated sequence, a relation including the same relevant classification information as the relevant type information included in the query formula and the CI including the same configuration type information included in the query formula among the CI and relations stored in a CMDB 10, as a candidate of the failure that may cause the observed symptom, on the basis of the query system 221.
