PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection video display apparatus that suppresses leakage of light emitted from a solid light source to portions other than a projection plane side. SOLUTION: The projection video display apparatus 100 includes a housing case 200 housing the solid light source 111, a DMD 500 configured to modulate light emitted from the solid light source 111, and a projection unit 150 configured to project light emitted from the DMD 500 on the projection plane. The projection video display apparatus 100 is arranged along a first placement surface and a second placement surface. The housing 200 has a bottom plate 230 opposed to the second placement surface, and a top plate 240 provided on an opposite side to the bottom plate 230. The top plate 240 is provided with a top plate recess 180 depressed inside the housing case 200. The top plate recess 180 has an inclined surface 181 inclined downward to the projection plane side.
