PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous variable attenuator which has good characteristics up to a high-frequency region and allows easy design. SOLUTION: The continuous variable attenuator includes a first resistive film 004 which connects a predetermined distance between an input signal electrode 009 and an output signal electrode 010, with a resistance of first sheet resistive valueτ<SB>1</SB>(Ω/sq.) being distributed, a second resistive film 005 which is electrically connected to a side in the predetermined direction and distance from the first resistive film 004 and a ground pattern 011, between the side and the ground pattern 011 running parallel to the side, with a resistance of second sheet resistive valueτ<SB>2</SB>(Ω/sq.) being distributed, and a planar and conductive movable conductor 100 which is slidably arranged in the direction connecting the input signal electrode 009 and the output signal electrode 010, to cover a portion from the side contacting the output signal electrode 010 of the first resistive film 004 and a portion from the side contacting the first resistive film 004 of the output signal electrode 010.
