PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning web for a copying machine reducing generation of gas under high temperature and including meta type wholly aromatic polyamide staple fiber superior in balance between rupture strength and dimensional stability in a high temperature atmosphere. SOLUTION: The cleaning web for a copying machine uses staple of meta type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber obtained by producing porous coagulation yarn by performing wet spinning using a specific coagulating bath, plastically drawing it at a specific magnification, and further performing specific heat treatment in saturated steam. In the meta type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber, quantity of a residual solvent remaining in the fiber is 1.0 mass% or less, a dry thermal shrinkage ratio at 300°C is 3.0% or less, and rupture strength is 3.0 cN/dtex or more.
