PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work hardness sensor capable of absorbing the impacts applied to the sensor. SOLUTION: The work hardness sensor 18 is equipped with a base member 78; a plurality of the guide cylinders 79 and 79 provided to the base member 78; a plurality of the shafts 81 and 81 provided to the guide cylinders 79 and 79, in a freely slidable manner to extend toward a helical gear 14; a folder 82 connected to the shafts 81 and 81 and the coil spring 83 provided between the folder 82; and the base member 78 and functioning as an impact-absorbing mechanism for absorbing the impact added to the folder 82. Since the impact added to the sensor is absorbed by the impact-absorbing mechanism, even if the sensor comes into contact with the work, disturbance of acquired data due to damages and impacts of the sensor can be prevented.
