A household appliance for preparing or preserving food products has a bearing structure, a door and a chamber (11) within the structure for receiving food products to be prepared or preserved. The chamber (11) is accessible through the door and is insulated by means of an insulation (20) which comprises at least one insulating body (21-23, 26-27) having a rigid structure formed of cellular glass. The household appliance is preferably a cooking oven (1) having a muffle (10) which defines a cooking chamber (11), the body or the insulating bodies (21-23, 26-27) being arranged leaning against respective walls of the muffle (10), outside the latter.
