The method involves providing a portable telephone (150) with a radio frequency transmitter/receiver (140b) and a vehicle (100) with a receptacle (130) to receive the telephone, where the receptacle is connected to an electronic computer (110). Messages are sent from the computer to the telephone by Near field communicationto verify the presence of telephone in the receptacle, switch on/off state of the telephone and charge state of battery of the telephone so as to establish communication between the computer and the telephone in case of anomaly of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a communication device between a vehicle and a portable telephone for carry out an emergency call.
